I’m not an obsessive scale watcher. In fact, it’s been more than a month since I last checked. And with daylight savings now in effect, I’ve been getting dressed in the dark this week (so I don’t wake Becky) and thus keep forgetting to pull out the scale.
But I picked a good morning to check my weight.
189.8 pounds.
I know it’s under 190 by a mere two-tenths of a pound. But it’s still real. And it still means I’m back under 190 pounds for the first time since September when I ran my last marathon…and then proceeded to stuff my face for two straight weeks…and put 10 pounds on within a month…urg.
I also know it may fluctuate a bit yet this week. Heck, I once wrote about losing 7 pounds during one three-hour run. But it at least means the slope of my weight loss continues in the right general direction.
So it feels good to be back in the 180′s…even if it’s just barely. Since I’m only running half marathon training distances and not full marathon training distances, the pounds haven’t melted as fast as I’d like. But at least they’re defrosting…
My goal…I’d like to get back down under 185 by race day. 7.5 weeks to go…
Interval Night Ahead
After a rest day yesterday after four straight days of running (three of them at a quick pace), tonight’s the night to resume my interval runs. 7 cycles of 0.3 mile sprints. And no Blackhawks game to carry me through the pain…urg.

I became a little more serious about running in Jan 2011, before that I would fluctuate from 187 to 193. I weighed myself this morning and I am at 172, I need to hit the weight before running peels away more mass! Great job on getting back down into the 180′s/
Thanks, Dominick. What’s your next race looking to be?
Pondering a 10k in mid May and then I have an extremely hilly 10k (Camp Pendleton Mud Run) in June that I am (dreading) going to do. Here is a link to the course so you understand why I am dreading it! http://www.camppendletonraces.com/cpmudmap.pdf
You are still my Treadmill Hero for putting in so many runs on the treadmill. I truly have a phobia about running on the thing. I hate it. I’m amazed that you put in so many miles on it. Congrats on losing the weight!
Hmmm…”Treadmill Hero” has a nice ring to it for a band name…or a blog name… Thanks, Angela! Let’s hope this summer is a little cooler for you down in TX compared to last year.
